Hey, OK, Host monster migrated the server to a dedicated IP Server, and from what I can tell, we are sharing with one other person, not to shabby, so everything turned out ok. Expect massive performance boosts because of this move.

Also, for what its worth, I installed team-speak on the server, not sure what we can do with it, but hey, its there if you need it.

Gah...I spent good money getting a Dedicated IP for the server, under the impression that I would be able to get non standard ports unblocked...however...apparently because we are on a shared IP server, we can only get a maximum o 10 ports unblocked, fine, they were going to move us over to a dedicated IP server at a different location, fine. BUT apparently our sites are to big to be moved?! they only add up to around the 6 gig mark, how is that 'Big' in today's world? In the mean time I'm only requesting to get a few ports unblocked whilst Hostmonster tries to fix up this mess. Here's another copy of the email recived from Level 3

"Thank you for your patience while we looked into this further. Unfortunately your account is too large for a location to location migration, however if you'd like, I can definitely get back with you once that's something we have in place. In the meantime, I can whitelist up to 10 ports for your account. Just reply with the ports you'd like open, and I can get that taken care of for you."

GAH is all I can say...GAH

Ok, the server propagation is taking a little longer than I expected. The current location that the server reides at, has no dedicated IP Servers available, therefore our provider is organizing for our data to be moved too a new location.

Unfortunately we do not currently have a dedicated IP server at your current server's co-location. I've gone ahead and sent in a request for a special exception to get your account moved to another co-location so that we can place you on a dedicated IP server. I won't have an answer for several hours, but will be sure to get back with you once I have additional information. ...
Please let us know if there is anything further we can do to assist you.

Thanks,

In the following hours, our provider will be moving us off this server and on to dedicated IP server, this allows use to have...

1. Dedicated IP to the server
2. Faster Speeds
3. Ports Unblocked

The propagation time is 1 - 4 hours, and will occur in an hour. This means all services will be out, mail will continue to run under http://mail.google.com/a/hpavc.org/, use this link as the dns services wont resolve during this time.

Phreakfiles has been extensively updated with sources from the previous years including zines and tutorials in aussie content.

If you have any other zines and tutorials from the previous years or fresh in aussie contents, please post them on our ausphreak discussion boards and we will add them to our directories.

Enjoy the read.

OK, I finally found a use for my uni subject, Database analysis and design.
I have tried to update the posts so that the correct users point to the correct posts, so IdleFire is no longer showing as me :)

This makes life easier

Hello People

After a lot of work between myself s33dy and Zer0day, we have put together a photo gallery for you viewing pleasure.
It is running Gallery 2.0, with a GeoTaging module which reads embedded EXIF data to pin point the photo on a map.
At the current time, new users are disabled, we had some issues with new accounts not appearing even when approved, so if you wish to add photos please PM one of use through Ausphreak, or directly to my email weedle@hpavc.org.

If you have an iPhone, Blackberry or other GPS enabled phone, you may wish to try enabling on board geotaging. The BB and iPhone have these embedded directly into the camera app, whilst phones such as nokia have free apps which allows GeoTaging, just be sure that it stores the data in the photos embedded EXIF.

Enjoy

Hi again,

Whilst browsing some old copies of the sites, I came across an old link to Mazzanet's payphone number database.

I am not sure how old this data is, but it contains a lot of useful info like the model, cabinet number and make I.E. Blue Phone, X2, etc.

The link has been added to the main title, so enjoy

Fellow Interweb users,
The other day myself and Zer0cool where driving around after a lecture, causing much anarchy and destruction, and we started to discuss geotaging.

So therefore zer0cool and I will be working on a custom made photo gallery that will incorporate Google maps.

The idea is to show the photo with a link to its map, also the ability to search for all POI in an area. E.g. All pictures of Exchanges in an area, or RIM's etc.

We have some time off uni atm, so we should begin work on it when I get back from Lorne.

Your suggestions and input is always welcome, so please, now is the time to get in with ideas before the software is coded.

Love always

Howdy Everyone,
After popular request, I have installed php Gallery on the server, it is reachable under http://photos.ausphreak.com. Since the old photos where stored on Ausphreak, not phreakfiles, I don't have a backup, so if everyone gets uploading, we will have a good collection to show.
